Opacity and visual inspection

Non-OBD diesel trucks need a smoke opacity test with a SAE J1667 meter and a visual inspection of emissions equipment. Alternative-fuel engines from 2017 and older need the visual inspection only.

• Warm the engine before an opacity test.
• Tell us if the emissions label is missing.
• The credentialed tester submits the result.
